PUBLIC RESEARCH BRIEF

The Admissibility Gap
in AI Decision Systems

AI systems increasingly shape executive briefings, workflow
decisions, and downstream action. Yet a critical gap remains:
useful output often appears before its authority, evidence
basis, and decision suitability have been established.

The Admissibility Gap names that interval. It is the point at
which AI-derived information may influence judgment before
an institution has determined whether it is legitimate to rely on.

‘Admissibility’ is used here in an institutional governance sense:
whether AI-derived information is legitimate to rely on in a decision-
grade context. It is not a claim about legal admissibility, evidentiary
rules, or compliance certification.
